Cookies: what this site stores, and what it does not

This site sets no cookies to follow you, here or anywhere else, and runs no script that measures who is reading.

What follows is the whole list. It is short enough to read in a minute, which is rather the point of building the site this way.

One line: that the notice bar has been read

Nothing here counts your visit

No analytics script runs on these pages. Visits are not counted, no audience report is drawn up, and nothing follows a reader from one page to the next.

The network that serves the site keeps the record any web server keeps: the address a request arrives from, the page asked for, the moment. It is there to deliver the pages and to hold off attacks.

No identifier ties a visit today to a visit next month, and the company builds no picture of who is reading.

The one thing saved on your device

At the foot of the page there is a one-line bar saying this site uses no tracking cookies. Press Got it and the bar goes away.

To remember that, your browser saves a single line in its own local storage. It is not a cookie: it is never attached to a request and it never reaches the company's server. It sits on your device until you clear this site's data.

If you never press the button, nothing is saved at all.

What is not on these pages

Most of what fills a cookie policy is missing here because it was never built in.

  • No advertising or retargeting scripts.
  • No analytics script, and no audience measurement of any kind.
  • No social network buttons or embedded feeds.
  • No third-party video player: the photographs and the films of each piece are served from this site itself.
  • No typefaces called in from an outside service — the fonts are files on this site.
  • No account, no login, no wishlist, so nothing to keep you signed in.

Why the bar asks nothing of you

A consent banner exists to ask permission before something reads or writes on your device for a purpose you did not come here for. On this site there is no such purpose.

So the bar states a fact and gets out of the way. There is no wall of switches, because there is nothing behind it to switch off.

How to clear it, or block it

  1. Open your browser's settings for privacy and site data.

  2. Find this site in the list of stored sites.

  3. Clear its data. The saved line goes with it, and the bar comes back once.

Browsing in a private window has the same effect: the line is dropped when the window closes.

What happens to what you send

What stays in your browser is one thing. The photographs and the name you send for a valuation are quite another, and they have their own page.
